THE BLURB:
From the legendary Friar's Club in New York City, The
Amazing Kreskin shows you how to imitate many of the
astounding effects he has spent decades perfecting for his
television and stage appearances. Learn how to make a table
levitate... how to mysteriously prevent a grown man from
getting out of a chair. Kreskin reveals the secret of
identifying a pre-selected person in a crowd and how to use
a special pendulum (supplied with the DVD) as a lie detector
and predictor of the future.
This is the perfect DVD for anyone who has ever wondered:
how they can "mesmerize their friends" or anyone who wanted
to be the hit of a party and astound everyone with new
tricks to keep everyone amazed. In addition to learning
seldom revealed secrets, see the Amazing Kreskin at his best
as he shows why he has been called "The World's Foremost
Mentalist."

MY COMMENTS:
Some may remember that Kreskin, certainly America's most
famous mentalist, put out a book called HOW TO BE (a fake)
KRESKIN back in 1996. You can definitely consider this the
DVD version of that book. According to Kreskin, he's
teaching you how to be a fake Kreskin, because you need a
lot of experience, knowledge, and practice to be a real
Kreskin. Um, right, okay. And, on this DVD, Kreskin does
some presentation only effects so that you can see the
difference. For instance, the DVD opens with a Q&A routine.
There's also a really cool lie detector test that Kreskin
performs. Experienced mentalists will know exactly what
he's doing, but he gets quite a bit of mileage out of
this simple test. There is also some magic included, such
as a demonstration only of a very creative ambitious card
routine.
Effects taught on this DVD include several hypnotism
demonstrations, such as the lemon test and a few "body
magic" effects, such as four people lifting up a third,
causing someone to not got up from the chair, and a line of
people not being able to push someone against a wall.
There's also the spirit touch effect involving the two index
fingers touching a participants eyelids (a fairly standard
effect), a name divination, a table levitation and rope
penetration, plus a couple of more items. All of these are
effects that can be found in basic mentalism or magic books.
Kreskin uses the last twenty minutes or so to explain the
pendulum and go over a few uses for the pendulum.
This fairly priced DVD comes with a basic pendulum and a
pendulum chart. The DVD contains 20 chapter stops and runs
96 minutes, according to the cover. Experienced mentalists
probably won't learn any new effects from this DVD or gain
any insights, but if you have never seen Kreskin, who is
America's most famous mentalist, then it's worth it to check
out his stage craftsmanship. For those fairly new to
mentalism, the same advice applies only I'd recommend it a
bit more highly as Kreskin's stage craftsmanship, for all
his strenghts and weaknesses, is certainly something to be
studied.
