THE BLURB:
Ten large (4" x 6") cards are displayed to the audience
which each show a different brightly colored design. With
the magician's back turned, a spectator freely chooses any
of the designs and then proceeds to draw it themselves using
the appropriate color markers. Once they're finished, the
drawing is placed inside an envelope and sealed.
The performer turns back around (or re-enters the room) and
without asking a single question he is able to duplicate the
exact design-using the exact matching colored markers!
Comes complete with ten specially printed design cards,
magic markers, the special gimmick and detailed
instructions.
MY COMMENTS:
This is a very strong design duplication effect. There
really are no peeks, switches, pumping, impressions, or
forces. There are no angle problems and no sleights. You
could repeat this over and over again, if you like. You can
have the participant use any paper they like to draw the
design on. And the ten designs are very different. The
clever principle relies on the pens, which are ungimmicked.
In fact, you can use different pens, if you like (as long as
you use the principle, of course). Just by looking at the
pens, in the act of picking them up to draw the design, you
get the information you need to know exactly the design to
be drawn. I should also mention that the gimmick is a crib
sheet. After examining the pens, simply check the chart
(which comes in two different sizes for convenience).
The instructions, which is a folded 8 1/2 x 11 page, explain
how you can work this for a stage presentation, but I've
been told that this effect works better as a pre-show
effect. When meeting your client, have him step out of the
room, copy a design onto a sheet of paper, fold it up, seal
it and then bring it to the show. He returns the pens and
the design cards to you. Of course, when in private, you
check the pens and you know the exact design that was drawn.
For what you get, it does seem pricey. But it is very, very
good.
