THE BLURB:
Imagine this: An audience member places a medallion beneath
any one of four inverted cups. Then, a different audience
member (who was outside the room while the object was
hidden) comes up to the table and she is successfully guided
on a step-by-step journey to the medallion with no help from
anyone in the room-including the performer.
Please be aware that no sleights are required, and there are
no secret assistants. Also take note that the routine is
designed for either close-up or stand-up performances. In
addition, everything that you will need to perform the
routine is included (except of course, the cups, the table,
and the audience members).
And if all of this is not enough, we have also added a
second routine (also complete with the necessary props) that
can be combined with The Final Picture to create a solid
ten-minute block of material that you can immediately drop
right into your act.
But there is more...
Believe it or not, nothing that you have just read describes
what this release is really about. Simply put, this project
is about creativity. Because in truth, this booklet details
the complete creative dissection of The Final Picture. The
goal of this project is to bring the process of creation to
life-thus enabling the reader to understand not only the how
of the routine, but more importantly, the why.
In essence, The Final Picture is a look inside the private
notebooks of Rick Maue--not because he believes that his
creations are so special, but because he believes that ALL
creations are indeed special. This book is about what it
takes to bring your ideas to life , and the questions that
you need to ask in order to truly make your magic your own.

MY COMMENTS:
Though this effect has its roots with Rick Maue's Terasabos
from The Book of Haunted Magick, it really deals with an
entirely different principle. It's one that is quite
different from the one used in Terasabos, but still quite
well-known to experienced mentalists. Without being more
specific, the technique allows the performer to correctly
know the outcome in advance, yet the outcome may be
different in each performance. There are no stooges, no
gimmicks and no sleights.
What makes this 49-page, 8.5" x 11" book worthy is the
"complete creative dissection" of the routine. As written,
the routine involves spirits talking to audience members,
but it can easily be turned into a straight mental piece.
Also, the medallion forces you to use the "final picture"
patter, though Rick explains how to do the routine without
the medallion and thus allowing some versatility.
I also appreciated the thinking and discussion behind the
second effect, S.O.S. (Stand Out Symbols), which uses ESP
cards. It's actually a simple pick a card trick, but Rick
Maue gets quite a lot of dramatic play out of it. Even if
you don't use this effect, it will get you thinking.
The package comes in a plastic bag and includes the
medallion and a set of five ESP cards. I recommend you use
the Royal ESP cards if you're going to do this.
