THE BLURB:
Spin up this audio CD, pump up the volume, and never touch
the CD player again until the race is over! The professional
announcer begins calling the action as BMW, Maseratti, and
Lotus racers scream around the track.

Two participants freely collaborate to select a car & driver
from among the included, full color collectible cards. The
sportscaster on the CD continues calling the exciting finish
as the racers head for the checkered flag, and ......The
randomly selected car and driver win the race!

MY COMMENTS:
This effect is a new version of an older Larry Becker effect
entitled Track Record.  The theme of the earlier version was
horse racing.  One horse was chosen out of a stack of cards
bearing the names of horses, an audio tape was played, and
the chosen horse was revealed to be a winner.  I believe it
was with this with effect that I first ran across the
selection process used here and I immediately liked it and
started using it for many other effects.  Track Record was
clean and easy to do, the plot was direct, everything could
be examined, and the theme of horse racing fit me to a tee
because I still am a horseplayer.

Finish Line is essentially the same except that the theme is
now car racing and, instead of an audio tape, you get a CD.
The beautiful color collector's cards are much better than
the plain lettering on card stock that Track Record had and
the CD has a colorful label that your participants can
handle freely without realizing it's a purchased mentalism
effect. Though the whole package does come in a standard
plastic DVD/CD-Rom library case, I suggest you put the CD
into another thin case or a CD sleeve, since the plastic
library case is labeled as Finish Line and you don't want
participants seeing that.

Though I'm still partial to the theme of the earlier Track
Record, this update is just as terrific and definitely worth
considering.
