Marc Spelmann's
GLIMPSE

Suggested Retail Price $27

THE BLURB:
Imagine being able to take a regular deck of cards and
having a spectator cut anywhere in the deck, they place
three cards in three different pockets and recase the deck,
making sure that everything is secure before you turn
around, yet you are able to tell them what cards they have
and in which pocket.

Glimpse is a fantastic utility item that has many
applications, another routine that Marc Spelmann has
included is Wink Murder, four silver coins and one copper
coin are dropped into your card case and mixed around, five
spectators each take a single coin, the one who has the
copper coin will be the murderer, you without questions or
double talk are able to locate the murderer in your best
psychic detective role. This is a great routine for intimate
cabaret and around the tables, it involves five people and
has an edgy feel to it.

Glimpse comes with three bonus routines:

    * Close Up Psychometry - Divine which object belongs to
which person.

    * ESP Divination - Divine which ESP symbol your
spectator is thinking of.

    * Close Up Drawing Duplication - The title says it all.

Marc floored everyone at Mindvention in Las Vegas with
Glimpse

MY COMMENTS:
This is definitely a clever gimmick, but one that involves
the use of a playing card box.  The gimmick is similar to,
but a more elegant version of, the one Larry Becker created
for his effect, Out of Body 2, which can be found in
Stunners Plus or his DVDs.  If you use cards in mentalism,
then you should be very interested in getting this.  But
it's going way too far to suggest that you can do the
variety of effects mentioned above using a gimmicked card
box.  Why would a mentalist put coins in a playing card box?
Or ESP cards?  Or designs?  Or business cards?  It doesn't
make sense to put anything other than playing cards inside a
playing card box.

Glimpse comes with two copies of the gimmick (one red and
one blue) and a single folded sheet that contains the cover
and the instructions on how to make the gimmick.  You must
construct the gimmick yourself.  But once you make one, you
can make as many as you want from card cases you already
have.  That's a very nice feature.  Sadly, I was
disappointed this gimmick wasn't as versatile as the ad
proclaims, due to the limitations above (which admittedly
are my own limitations, but logical ones to me).  However,
the bottom line is that if you do card effects in mentalism,
this is definitely worth checking out.
