THE BLURB:
Basic effects - What the spectators see. There are three
possible basic effects that can be demonstrated with Picto
Mental 2000. For each of these basic effects there are
numerous demonstration versions, so that Picto Mental 2000
can be adapted to practically every demonstrating style.
Each effect can be combined with every other one or you can
present all three as complete Mental Act.

The three basic effects...

1.1. Direct Mind Reading (verbal)
A large childrens coloring book with over 100 pages is
shown. On every page is a different picture. The book is
given to a spectator. While the demonstrator turns away, the
spectator will open the book to any page and concentrate on
the picture. The demonstrator also concentrates for a moment
and can say immediately what the spectator is concentrating
on.

1.2. Design Duplication (drawn)
A large childens coloring book with over 100 pages is shown.
On every page is a different picture. The book is given to a
spectator. While the demonstrator turns away, the spectator
will open the book to any page and concentrate on the
picture. The demonstrator takes a block and a pin, he
concentrates for a moment and begins to sketch. If this is
compared with the picture that the spectator was
concentrating on, an astonishing simalarity is seen.

1.3. Forecast (written)
The demonstrator presents an envelope with a forecast
inside. Then he shows a large childrens coloring book with
also over 100 pages. On each of these pages is a different
picture. The book is handed to a spectator. While the
demonstrator turns away
the spectator opens the book to any page and concentrates on
the picture. Now the envelope is opened by another
spectator: The demonstrator predicted the selected picture
accurately.

MY COMMENTS:
The only problem with this item is that some may feel
uncomfortable with using a coloring book in their adult
mentalism presentation. For those who have children, you
have a beautiful justification for having it. Rest assured,
though, this is an ingenious book. The book alternates
between pages that are captioned and pages which are not. The
methodology on the non-captioned picture pages is similar to
a tossed-out deck. The captioned pictures rely on a brief
pumping. Along with the book, you get a few translated
pages of instructions and a beautifully made chart to aid in
the pumping sequence. Thus, you can repeat this effect if
you wish. The book itself is an 8 ½ by 11 thick book, quite
large for a standard coloring book, but well printed. I
strongly recommend that you get a child to color many of the
pages so that it looks like a real world item. Though the
price and the premise of a coloring book may leave you with
some doubt, this is a visual item that plays very strongly.
