Here's What Folks Are Saying About Prevaricator:

"It's not often that I am soooo badly fooled. If
Prevaricator got me only once, it could've been lucky. Twice
was impressive. But reliably over and over and over, it was
downright remarkable!"

      -Gregory Wilson

"This is one of the best "psychological magic effects"
I've read in years! ...Direct, simple, and baffling."

      -Patrick Kuffs

"Prevaricator is invaluable as it truly is puzzling
and has inherent in its presentation the emotional barb
we’ve all experienced of trying to hide a lie. It’s
propless, audience-involving mystery is perfect for dramatic
foreplay. Or you can just torture the shit out of your
magician friends."

      -Dan Huffman

"I adore it. I can't wait to put it into practice."

      -Stephan Long

MY COMMENTS:
This is one of the most powerful psychological secrets to be
released in recent years.  Understand, because this is
psychological, this doesn't work one hundred percent of the
time, but it will miss far less often than you'd expect it
to.  About 95%, maybe better.

The blurb is a little vague on the effect, so let me explain
it.  Two participants are shown a specific object.  Let's
say a ring.  With the performer's back turned, one hides the
ring behind his back.  Then the participants are instructed
to use hand signals to determine who will be the
truth-teller and who will be the liar.  When done, the
performer turns around and asks each of them one question.
The question is, "Do you have the object?"  Each participant
must answer according to the role they chose.  With just one
word from each participant, the performer can tell who holds
the ring.

Previous versions of this effect (probably the best of which
is in Banachek's Psychological Subtleties) required two
questions and some simple deductions of logic, which could
be quite confusing and indirect to the audience, not to
mention the performer and participants.  This version
eliminates that logic and gets right to the point:  one
simple question.

This is one of those incredible routines that can be done
anytime and anywhere and with any object.  It doesn't even
need to be held, just agreed upon secretly by the
participants. It works in any venue and under any
conditions. That makes this a very clever routine to add to
the mentalist's arsenal of impromptu miracles. So far, this
is my favorite effect from the very creative Patrick
Redford.  And it's so good that I truly think it's a steal
for what he's asking.  Yep, I'll say it.  I do think it's a
must-have for any mentalist.

Softbound, approximately 5.5" x 8.5", 37 pages.
